Ok, I sorted the last 11lb. bag I had left over from my supply I had bought years ago. Most of it measured below .180". Only about 20% of that bag was in the .180" size. Bunch of deformed pellets.
This new batch I am very impressed with, compared to what I've had. Most of the pellets are right around .180". I didn't measure any bigger than that. I put a handful on a glass picture frame (which is the way I liked to sort out what I was screening. It helps to get out the really out of round pellets). I rolled them around and found very very few if any too terribly out of round or imperfectly plated.
I decided that I don't even need to screen them for all the "junk" I had to before! Excellent.
As long as they fit in my 30 round mags, they are good to go.
It seems that Ballistic Products may have listened to our past complaints and passed word to Fiocchi and they fixed their quality control.
Well done!
I still will not put this ammo through my Blackbird magazine, but I won't stop using it in my 30 rounders for sure. It really is excellent hard hitting ammo, especially for rodent control.
Only complaint I have is that I weighed the bags before I opened them. They are coming up a bit short on the weight advertised. One bag was 4oz. light, the other was 2oz. light. (with the bag's weight included). Might be because of Fiocchi measuring in kilos over in Italy, but still....
