I have one word for you... Sregey's Board. If you are worried about compromising the integrity of the collector value you can use the Intermediate Board without any drilling. For me the fun factor far outweighs holding something with white cotton gloves. That's just me though. A major benefit of the Intermediate Board over a chipped stock board is that it will operate between 9, and 25V. This means you can basically put whatever will fit in the battery compartment, and it will work (don't quote me on that because I haven't tried dog turds). If you ask real nice Sergey may make you a custom full auto setting. From there I can help you to determine the optimal voltage for your setup. Sorry. I don't know much about mixing different battery types.

When I was using AA batteries years ago, I would used Energizer lithiums exclusively. I, like many others, got sick of replacing batteries, so rechargeables are the way to go.

If you upgrade your circuit board (highly recommended!), then rechargeables like Trustfire 14500's work great. Five of them (and a dummy battery) will give you 21v on full charge.

I have used 18650's now for years. Capacity is excellent for my shooting needs.

thanks cam... -I currently (and have always ran 6 energizer ultimate lithium battaries in my birds) , but due to lack of funds at the moment, I cant afford a new board at this time,,, so what model and brand 14500 battaries (that you already know forsure work great) can I run and add 2 of them with the 4 exsisting energizer ultimate lithium battaries I'm running ???

thanks man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fred, I used these:

http://www.dx.com/p/trustfire-14500-3-7v-900mah-rechargeable-lithium-batteries-2-pack-19771?tc=USD&gclid=CIzbkoCA_cwCFYomhgodblgGlQ

Early on, I used to mix two of those batteries with four Energizer lithiums. That combo gives you 15.44v fully charged.

Some people were complaining that the battery's protected circuit would trip off on that combo when shooting. I had never once experienced even a small "hicccup". Worked great for me.

THATS REALY WEIRD CAM,,,I GOT THESE 2 BATTARIES, AND THEY LOOK IDENTICAL, I EVEN ASKED BEFORE ORDERING IF THEY WERE THE SAME MAKE(JUST DIFFERANT MODEL NAME)AND THEY SAID YES, THEY ARE THE SAME EXACT BATTARIES AS IN THE LINK YOU SENT ME...AND THEY LOOK IDENTICAL AND THE SPECS ARE IDENTICAL AS THE ONES IN THE LINK,,, BUT AS SOON AS I THREW THE 2 OF THEM IN (FULLY CHARGED)ALONG WITH THE 4 ENERGIZER ULT LITHIUMS,  IT ACTED LIKE IT COMPLETELY DRAINED EVERYTHING,,,,DO YOU KNOW OF 2 PRIMARY 14500 LITHIUM BATTARIES THAT ARE NOT RECHARGABLE THAT YOU KNOW AND HAVE USED THAT WILL WORK AWSOME ALONG WITH THE 4 ENERGIZER ULTIMATE LITHIUMS ?

-ONLY DIFFERANCE IS TRUST AND ULTRA ... BUT SHE SAID ARE THE SAME COMPANY AND BATTARY ???

-HERES A PIC OF THE 2 IM TALKING ABOUT.

THANKS BUDDY

Yes they are the same batteries.

As I said, some people had problems with the combo. What is happening is that the battery's protection circuit is tripping.
There are lithium rechargeable 3.7v batteries without the protection circuit. If you do get some, be extremely cautious about how you recharge them, as a fire could result if overcharged. I recommend charging them inside a closed metal container away from anything flammable.

One other thing you could try is putting the batteries in your battery well in different configurations, i.e. put the rechargeable in first then the Energizers, or vice versa. That has helped others with that problem before.

I have never had a problem tripping the battery circuit protection before. Strange why you and others have had issues.

I did try that before too also with the ones I sent you a pic of that you said were the same ones,,,and again whats weird also,,,like you know, it tripped the protection and seemed like it drained everything, and when I put the 2 rechargeable lithium battaries in first, one of them swelled and was a bitch to get out !!! -weird,,, that's why I was wondering if you knew of 2 primary lithium 14500 battaries (the brand) that are not rechargab;e, and are not protectd ???

thanks cam,,,,

I believe what happened is that the Ultrafires you are using are overcharging the Energizers (Energizers are drawing the voltage and swelling). Or, you have a short somewhere. Either way, this is a dangerous situation. I have to recommend you stop trying to mix rechargeables with disposables for your set-up.

Try contacting one of our other members, DUBB. He is the battery "expert". At least much more so than me. I just don't want to give you any bad advise that might cause you a fire.

Best rule of thumb is to stick with all the same battery type, i.e. all rechargeable. You could do 3 Ultrafires and three dummy batteries. That will give you 12.6v. That is if you really want to keep your batteries inside your battery well... Otherwise you could do an external battery pack which can give you a potential "massive" amount of shooting time.

DO NOT MIX AND MATCH ANY 14500 RECHARGEABLE CELLS! THEY CAN EXPLODE, trust me, they don't like it. They will overload trying to balance out. If you must mix with those energizers, the ONLY safe option is to use lithium PRIMARY cells (not rechargeable) called ER14500. Any that start with an "I" are rechargeable, don't mix and match them, keep them charged together as matched and balanced sets.
