Adapters
« on: March 24, 2016, 08:00:53 PM »
People ask me all the time about remote air adapters for birds. They are really hard to find these days from someone reputable. The lack of them these days can be a deal breaker. I was just wondering if there is an adapter on the market that will fit the 88 gram adapter that comes with a BB. I have found several that look like they might work, but I don't speak the language in the descriptions. It's not that they are in a foreign language. It's just foreign to me.

There is also the adapter DUBB found.  He did a little bit of modification to it IIRC.  It adapted the mag thread to NPT for a Foster fitting.  I can make up a batch of them if anyone would want them.  I would just need to find someone to hot blue them.  That thread should be here and has the rest of the info.

As far as the specs on what you are finding, just post it here and we can decode.  I think the BB thread into the mag is 12mm x 1mm, but I would need to verify that.  I don't know what the 88 gram thread is myself, but it won't be hard to determine or someone here already knows.

Thanks. If you make some up can I refer them to you? If I recall the going rate was between $25/$35. I'm pretty sure the BB threads are 10mm.

I checked the earlier posts and show the BB mag adaper thread as 12mm.  That matches with what DUBB found.  My BB is older, though.  Maybe the thread changed?  Do you know the pitch?  I will verify mine this weekend.

The 10mm thread I remember is the back seal on the valve head.  It is a very fine .5mm pitch. I machine those threads so I am sure on that one.

The adapter I use connects a regulated 13 c.i. tank directly to the Blackbird mag. I got it from JimC for $22.00

All this talk about banning guns because they are killing people....We should just make murder illegal and people will stop getting killed.

I send people to Jim whenever they ask about them. Some people get in touch with him, and some don't. There is something really screwy going on with his email. He hasn't responded to my last three or so. I received an email from his address out of the blue a few days ago. I responded asking if he had sent it. No response. Here it is.

I checked my BB and my spare air adapter for BB mag to Foster.  Mine are all 12mm x 1mm threads.

i had gotten two years back from OPP, the ones for the MP661K model, it goes into maghead n comes down thru mag ,out bottom of mag, then you screw a quick disconect on it,,,basically one end is threaded for maghead, the other to accept the quick disconect to a bulk line ,,,but i think i printed out all the demensions for them and could post it up if someone wants to make them

Does this adapter thread into the bottom of the valve body? Similarly to a Blackbird configuration?
Please post a picture or dimensions. Thank you

The ones I am familiar with, and have made many of them myself, do not screw into the bottom of the valve body itself.  They were made to thread into the bottom of the mag body (the steel frame part that the valve body sits on top of) so you could screw it in until the top, flat end of the adapter contacted the seal where the CO2 cartridge tip would normally get pierced and seal.  That is located at the end of an expansion chamber that screws into the valve body and through the mag body (frame) to hold the mag head and frame together as well as to provide an additional seal in the valve body.

In the Blackbird it is different as it wasn't made to have a CO2 cartridge IN the vertical mag body.

I have a drawing and pictures I can post when I can get to them.

Those original bulk air adapters were very simple, but did require the CO2 piercing lever and related parts to be removed (they were not needed for the use of HPA or bulk CO2) from the mag body and the bottom hole had to be threaded.  It was a 3/8" thread as I recall.

A quick tip. If you do get an adapter that requires you to remove the pins that hold the charging lever in get the right sized punch. Those pins are in there like swimwear.
