Drozd vs blackbird, bulk co2 and longer barrels?
« on: December 13, 2015, 09:29:11 AM »
Hi Everyone
Im now the new owner of a new black/yelow drozd, and a blackbird! I only intend on keeping one though (is one better? aside from the larger magazine capacitty of the blackbird).

The blackbird came with a bulk co2 setup, which i have to say is GARBAGE, It some kind of home done jobby which leaks like a sieve. Once i find out which drozd to keep, is there a highly rated bulk co2 conversion device?

Also, where can i find an aftermarket (longer) barrel? I tried contacting JimC but i've heard his email was hacked? regardless, havent heard back from him.

Anything special i should be checking over these guns?

also, when i shoot the blac/yyellow drozd, i feel a bit of co2 jet out from the handle, is that normal?

Hello, and welcome.

I don't know if you are aware. These guns are no longer being imported into the US, and Canada because of sanctions. If I were you I would keep the Blackbird just because of the magazine. If you have an extra 30 round mag I would keep it also. With a few mods using the Blackbird mag you can shoot up to 2000 rounds per minute full auto. You can get up to 4000 rounds per minute with the 30 round mag.

If you want to go full auto you are going to want to ditch the Co2, and move to high pressure air like paint baller's use. You will need a special fitting to either directly, or remotely connect a paintball tank. I can't recommend a trustworthy source for these fittings at the moment. Maybe someone else here can.

There are a few different ways to convert the bird to shoot full auto that works on both of your guns. You can replace the stock chip on the circuit board with a full auto chip. The Bumblebee will need a stock Drozd, or Blackbird board for the chip. This changes your rate of fire settings to 600, 900, and 1200 rounds per minute. The other way is to replace the stock board with Sergey's Board. There are currently two versions available. I will attach a video that explains how both of them work. It is not currently recommended to use the that shoots 4K RPM with the Blackbird mag. There is a good chance you will damage your valve. The 4K board does work with the 30 round mag with a stiffer spring.

You can buy the boards, and mod chips from Sergey, or me. I keep them on hand ready to ship priority. I also include a stick on template to show you exactly where to drill your housing as well as a few other things including guidance if you need it. Sergey sells his boards for less than I do. It will just take longer for you to receive it. His email address is e-go[AT]inbox.ru.

We are bringing a new smooth bore high quality barrel to the table soon so keep looking for posts here about it if you can't get in touch with Jim C.

It is normal to feel gas escaping. It is being blown down the hole in the valve body where the bb's are fed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyEC7lf2ZK8

Hi

I got a barrel from Jim it took a few weeks for him to respond to my email. Once I sent paid him
Shipping was prompt and the quality is top notch.

Hello and welcome new members.

Simko, I would highly recommend you hold onto BOTH of your Drozds. The black and yellow one, even though some may think it is ugly, is highly collectible as they were the first ones made.

If you decide to keep both of them, and want to mod the Bumblebee without taking away from the collector value you can do what I did. I bought some spare housings (the part you have to put holes in for Sergey's Board) from EAA. The ones they had were yellow so the one on my gun is not the original. They still may have some.

jus for shits n giggles, what would you guys value my drozd bumblebee at/ 18v, ported mt valve, gettin a hpa tank w/a regulator set to 1200 or 1400psi output, have jc's 1st prototype smg barrel, rifled & hardened  18 inch, not the 16 like the kits, it has pistolpacker's board 1200rof, n his straight thru to mag mag bulk adapter (have spares of each of those new ) 2 xtra mags, one is new, still wrapped, 2 20 oz co2 tanks, that tank/buttstock bulk adapter setup, a regular hosed adapter, stock barrel, mock supressor which makes it louder haha, custom wooden carbine stock , quick release swivel disconnects & sling,,,nothin special for sights,a cheap red rot laser, gonna upgrade to reflex halographic sight hi enough up that regular sights can still be used,,,i think i got it back in early 2006 new original box, loader, manual  and a bag full xtra parts and printed info on how to modify them off the russian sites translated,,remember back then? haa    anyhow,,,probably will have 800+ into it easily....never chronied, 700+pages telephone book w/co2... it will eat up a 12 gram cartridge in one mag with an unmodded mag head or valve..viddies after i hook it all up n blast some stuff  :o
