Yes, upgraded motor.
P.S. the steel gear and carbon clutch set-up i did is still working perfectly in my rig. No more worn out plastic pressure plate gears.
I found some pictures so im sharing them here. Hope you dont mind.

I just got the board in last week. It has the steel gears, no blow-by-design, all the same mods i did from the yellow  1200fps. This will have a short smg barrel so it wont be as fps. Well ill post a pic when its done. Glad to hear youre still at it. Be well

Yeah steel bb’s. With 1600psi it is shooting 1200-1210fps at best. I have no blow-by loss because my barrel threads into the valve body face. I welded the breach nut to it then grinded it down so i can thread the barrel a few turns.
There are pics in a different thread on here.

Mason, the steel gears partner well with the SB circuit boards. Idk what the hell you've mistakenly been told or what someone else lost in translation but, i dont need a 'partner' to play BB guns with.
I'm waiting your apology. Then we can talk about sending you some gears.

Yes, I did.

Cam, what kind of velocity are you getting? Also what is your accuracy like?
Sorry for all the questions, but i have no one to talk about Drozd with lol

Yes! It was. We fires it along side of a 1050 Bird, it was distinctly different than the sub sonic Drozd.
I have other really bizarre reaults to mention. It would be great if someone could provide some clarity here.
I was using a Loather Walther barrel for some accuracy teats which yielded significantly better results than my JimC and Ray smooth bore barrels.
The Loather Walther barrel smooth bore but, the bore diameter is larger than both the JimC and Ray barrel.
A Daisey BB falls through it in about half a second I estimate. ABb rolls through the other two barrels in about 1.5-2 seconds. So the LW barrel is not as tight.
Now what i find bizarre is how much more accurate the LW barrel is. Its the same length, looser fitting
Yet far superior on target

This pic below was a target shot 10-12 times with the Loather barrel, at a few feet shy of 50 yards, with a green laser for sighting.
I wont even bother posting the target from the JimC and Other barrel because the BBs were so inaccurate that several didn't even hit the oaoer.

Does anyone have any clue as to why there is such a variance? All the barrels were newish, all smooth bore, all the same length basically......WHAT GIVES!??

Drozd and Blackbird Discussion / 1128FPS
« on: June 18, 2017, 01:08:08 AM »
Well today it happened, I finally broke into the eleven hundreds. Spent a lot of time tuning this machine but never broke out into the 11s. I was consistently hitting a 1030 average for many a session. I had a couple mod ideas i had yet to apply so, I hammered them out this week and decided I'd take some measurements today.
I wasn't that suprised, it was obvious that there was power to gain by just making the system more efficient. So with the added BB feed tube sleeve/bushing ( whatever you want to call it) nearly 100FPS  was picked up.
This was not done with helium. This is HPA, 1600 psi output.

Has anyone registered a higjer velocity with high pressure air? Would like to hear any advice on going faster

I have a video clip but not sure how to post it, so just a picture for now

Nicely done. Great ideas!

I ported my whole air feed system from the inside of the HPA regulator on the tank all the way to the mag head. Anything that could be done. I posted photos and How-to about it all on the old forum somewhere some years back. It did make a very noticeable difference in power.

Thanks Cam, I appreciate it.

Did you allign the intake hole that is on the bottom, between the O-rings (vertical air pipe section) with exit hole that is on the back aide of the ASA?
That is a major restriction in the system.

Thanks buddy. It was fun work. 100FPS! wow, not bad for some port n" polish in the right spots. Oh, and a BB feed tube sleeve.

Stock pitch is .5mod.
For the complete kits i did it in 48p, there are more styles of gears to choose from in this dimension.

2.3mm for the jameco motor shafts.  1/8 bore works for the middle gear, and 5mm bore works with a little sanding for the auger gear.

Here are more pictures, these better show the machining that is done to the gears. These are made specific for the Drozd drivetrain.

Mason, let me know if you want me to send a gear set your way.

P.S. Have a look at the BB feed tube mod i did. There is a significant gain in FPS to be had. It makes the gun a good bit louder too. I'll have to do a decibel test but I'd estimate that it gains more than 10db.  It most noticeably increases the fps during full-auto strings.

Now you are talkin' turkey. I want to see that thing whine at 6K. This is what 5K sounds like.

Hi Mason,
For the 6k i didnt use meshing gears. I used two cogs with a roller chain. I lost interest in the 6k, it was just superfluous in my opinion. It's so fast that it doesn't even sound automatic, its just a constant loud drone. I guess i prefer playing around with 2k the most fun. The velocity at 6k was stupid slow too. I had to use two separate hpa tanks fitted to one line to get enough volume to keep up with what the valve body can put out at those speeds.

Good luck with your 6k, im sure you will hammer it out soon enough.

When using stiffer spring rates to achieve 2,4 or 6k rpm speeds the additional force that is applied to the clutch can prematurely wear out the pressure plate surface on the larger gear. This might not happen right away bit, if you like to shoot a lot of single fire shots the additional torque will cause quick wear from the clutch constantly needing to slip during singe fire modes.
So this is what i did to resolve the problem. Additionally it makes for a much smoother sounding operation and increased durability.

Replaced all plastic gears with hardened steel alternates.
The gears requires some minimal machining.
The clutch has been replaced with a carbon fiber unit that is twice as thick at 1mm. The D shaped anti-rotation bore is still applied to the clutch.

If anyone is interested in a gear set, or just a new steel drive gear for your upgraded motors you may send me a message and I'll gladly help you out.
Enjoy.
