Title: I'm really intrigued with this...
Post by: Parellax on November 01, 2015, 01:32:57 AM
I never knew about this gun until i looked at this forum. I am basically blown away with the limited videos I have viewed. This is an awesome topic as far as I am concerned.

It is pretty amazing, huh?

I have been planning to build one, and will soon. Soo many projects to do!

I looked over the plans, and WOW that's a bunch of parts! TBK. Did you build one? After I was made aware such a thing existed I noticed your old avatar looked like one.

Roger that.  I was thinking of using that as a build project for a group build... Somewhere down the road...  The performance is pretty amazing!

That's awesome! What did you chamber it for?

Sounds like fun! I have been toying with the idea of buying a mill, and lathe for a long time. I am looking at combo rigs at the moment. I don't think a day goes by without me saying, "Well that would be really easy if I had..."

32 caliber in the first one.  I have played around with others calibers.

I'd love to see what the .17 hmr bullet's can do in a long rifled barrel. I think the round, cyclic rate, and velocity would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. It wouldn't be that bad on air either.

This reminded me I need to get another scuba tank!  They use a lot of air!

Did you use a rifled barrel, and what size and type of balls do you shoot with it? Muzzle loader balls come in .310, .315, and .321, normally.

On that note, I really want one of those Remington Beals pocket revolvers to go with my 1858 in .44, but the little buggers are kinda pricey for what they are, they cost more than my .44 did. But they are sooooooo cuuuuute!!

Yes, rifled.  It shoots 32 caliber round lead balls at .310" diameter.  I used a barrel liner for the barrel.  I redesigned the magazine feed and designed a new magazine for it.  I also made it so the magazine connection bolts to the frame (removable piece, not welded) so you can change it for other magazine types and styles like a drum or auger fed magazine.

I got a message second hand that Jeff Caselman said it was the first and only round ball Caselman AMG.  I don't know if that is still the case, as I have shown some guys my mag design and talked to them about how to build it.
