Title: Review of BlackBird mag. rebuild
Post by: Westwind on June 11, 2017, 10:29:08 PM
Magazine rebuild review

I was trying to run 3&4k rpm on my BlackBird with factory plastic gears and I knew they would not last when East Milford
offered to install steal gears for me if I sent him my Mag. I agreed and sent it off to him with a warning of what he would
find.

When he received the mag. and looked it over he asked if it
would be alright if he did some additional repairs and mods
and I agreed. I lost track of what all he did but he rebuilt the
whole mag practically.

New valve body with bb centering mod.
New valve, spring, seals
New steal gears and clutch
New motor
Feed tube mod
Opened up air passage
Reworked my latch plate
New mag clip

You name it he did it. Not only does it shoot smooth now but
I gained 100 fps. It's shooting 850 fps on 1000 psi.
I can highly recommend East Milford to anyone who need some
work done. Everything looks very professional.

Thanks again East Milford

Mark

Thanks buddy. It was fun work. 100FPS! wow, not bad for some port n" polish in the right spots. Oh, and a BB feed tube sleeve.

Did you put in the Nichibo motor, while you were at it? They love that, particularly if you have Sergey's board, and run more than 15v. I run mine with a 5S1P 18650 stack in the stock, so that's 21v, peak. The stock motor can only handle 15v, so Sergey puts a jumper on the board so that you can limit the motor voltage to 15v if you run more than that, or bypass it if not. The Nichibo is rated to 30v, so I run mine in the bypass because I run more than 15v!

I used a carpet cutter blade for a latch plate, it was the perfect size.

I just redid the feed tube mod, this time I used a piece of ss tube that was 1/4" OD. To do that, I have a really long 1/4" drill bit. I first used that to gauge the depth, and put a piece of tape around the bit to mark the depth. Then, I put the mag body together without the stem, and just drilled it out to the depth of the tape. 1/4" is a lot of plastic to hog out of the neck.

Yes, upgraded motor.
P.S. the steel gear and carbon clutch set-up i did is still working perfectly in my rig. No more worn out plastic pressure plate gears.
I found some pictures so im sharing them here. Hope you dont mind.
