Title: Problems with on/off switch during sergey board install
Post by: Grubbypaws on February 10, 2017, 04:43:13 PM
Hi Chaps ....long time no speak.  :)  I wonder if you can help me...

I've finally got around to my sb2 board install which i got from drozdmax years ago..... everything has gone well accept for the on/off switch. It was too sensitive initially and would come on with the slightest brush of the switch when in the off position. I think this is due to the switching block on the sergey board being very slightly different and possibly positioned slightly differently. So after a quick diagnosis I saw it needed a slight adjustment so i stretched/bent the sprung metal clip which holds the switch on. It toggles it on and off so I thought I just needed to be bent.... so that it only just makes contact in the on position.

Any ways I never got it to work correctly and I ended up breaking off a bit of the sprung clip in doing so! So now I have no on/off button as I need a replacement clip....does anybody have a spare?

Also im.not sure if the switching block is working correctly...as the one next to it which is for the trigger makes a detent noise or clicking noise when pressed and this one doesnt. Is this working correctly? Or should they both click whenext pressed/switched?....it could have been a dodgy switch from the start

Your power switch is done. Send it back to Sergey. You can PM him on this forum.

Hi Parralex thanks for the help. Before i send it to Sergey....I was wondering if the power switch from the original stock board could be taken off and used on the sergey board?? It looks superior to sergeys switch choice....I am running upto 25v though. Also I need a replacement spring clip now...any ideas on where to get one?

How do I contact sergey on here?? I believe the board was faulty from the start as that switch never made a clicking noise.

And here (screw driver used as pointer) is where the on/off sprung clip broke

Sorry for the short initial reply. The power switches are not interchangeable. Your problem is something we are aware of that sometimes creeps up. I have this problem about 1 in 20 boards. It's not necessarily the board. It's got to do with the component being rated to what it says it will do, and what it actually will do. I test all boards before they go out from me. Sergey also does the same thing. Most of the switches work fine, but I catch a few that don't. We are working on a solution, but like I say. Most of the switches work fine. It just sounds like you got a bad one.

When mine did that, I just wired in an SPDT slider switch. It fit in the hole perfectly. It is a bit sensitive, though.
